Headquartered in Trieste, Italy, quality leader illycaffè S.p.A. produces and markets a unique blend of espresso coffee, composed of 100 percent Arabica coffee, under a single brand name, and packages dedicated to the three places and times of coffee consumption: bars, as well as hotels and restaurants home, through stores and supermarkets office, through dealers and distributors.
illy purchases green coffee directly from producers of the finest Arabica through partnerships based on mutual value creation. With the best coffee farmers in the world-in Brazil, Central American countries, India and Africa-the Trieste-based company develops a long-term partnership by transferring knowledge and technology to them and recognizing a price above the market price.
Founded in 1933 by Francesco Illy, today, with the third Illy generation at the company's helm, the parent company illycaffè S.p.A. controls ten companies worldwide, dedicated to distribution in international markets. A total of more than 600 employees, including 400 in Trieste.
illy coffee is drunk in 50,000 establishments and in homes in more than 130 countries around the world. illycaffè has tripled its turnover in the last ten years. In 2005, turnover was 227 million euros (up 8 percent from the previous year), and for the first time, sales abroad exceeded those in Italy. There are more than 120 locations worldwide, including 50 in Italy, Espressamente illy, illy's "Italian-style coffee" chain.
illycaffè is a founding member of the E.S.E. Consortium and is represented on the Board of Directors by Dr. Stefano Cuccoli, who serves as President of the Consortium.
