Starbucks has just announced that they will open roughly 12,000 new locations by 2021. The move will increase its store count to 37,000 worldwide and is one prong of a sweeping five-year plan that will boost revenues by 10% annually. Howard Schultz will soon step down as ceo and be succeeded by Kevin Johnson. He will become executive chairman.
