3Coracoes to play in the encapsuled espresso coffee market

3Coracoes, the joint venture of Sao Miguel Holding and the Israeli group Strauss has recently purchased Cafe Fino Grao building a position in Minas Gerais state and president Pedro Lima says the company is to have a role in the consolidation of the Brazilian coffee industry. Sara Lee is its major competitor and with the introduction of capsule coffee products, they will be directly competing with Nespresso.

3Coracoes, the joint venture of Sao Miguel Holding and the Israeli group Strauss has recently purchased Cafe Fino Grao building a position in Minas Gerais state and president Pedro Lima says the company is to have a role in the consolidation of the Brazilian coffee industry. 3Coracoes has a R$1,6bil turnover, seven plants and 24 distribution centres with 3,800 employees while it distributes its several coffee brands via 100,000 selling points. 3Coracoes and its major competitor, Sara Lee, have each a 20% stake in the Brazilian market that other strong players as Melitta and Marata. Together these companies hold 65% of the market while other 500 companies have 35% of the market. Pedro Lima says 3Coracoes has scheduled investments of R$20mil expanding capacity in all its industrial units. The company is also introducing its encapsulated coffee presentation for espresso coffee, competing with Nestle's Nespresso.
