Joh A. Benckiser (JAB), the investment vehicle of the wealthy Reimann family, is to buy DE Master Blenders 1753, owner of Douwee Egberts coffee and Pickwick tea, in a deal worth about euro 7.5bn (£6.4bn). It marks the latest tie-up inked by the investor as JAB looks to tap into consumers' insatiable thirst for caffeine, both in coffee shops and at home.
