In 2020, the preventive closure of schools, offices and public administrations due to the pandemic caused the loss of more than 31% of turnover in the vending sector (Ipsos study for CONFIDA, the Italian Association of Automatic Distribution) which closed the year with a turnover of 1.6 billion euros (between the vending market and that of ocs-coffee with capsules and pods) for a total of 4.4 billion drinks in Italy. Between January and August 2021 there was a recovery (+ 9.21%) compared to the same period of 2020. To drive this recovery coffee (+ 12.13%) and water (+ 10.88%) which are confirmed the most consumed products at vending machines. However, the sector is still far from the pre-pandemic situation and, compared to the same period in 2019, it recorded a -15.17%.
