Britain's biggest coffee shop chain has blamed its customers after its recycling scheme for takeaway cups flopped, with less than 3% collected. Costa sells 500 million hot drinks in disposable cups each year, a fifth of the total is sold in the UK, but in the 12 months to February it collected and recycled only 14 million cups.
