Same article as the one published by Corriere della Sera but adding also the acquisition of Porto de Santos, a Brazilian coffee exporter company.
Italian coffee group Illy has agreed the dual acquisition of French tea company Dammann Freres and Brazilian coffee exporter Porto de Santos for an estimated combined sum of 15m euros. The second deal will allow Illy to continue its policy of improving and providing incentives for quality coffee production, while the first brings on board an historic company that shares Illy's traditions of product innovation and close attention to packaging.
Along with tea, Illy now has bylines in chocolate, jams and pasta. The Italian company expects sales for 2006 to have grown by at least 10 per cent to approximately 250m euros.
