Lavazza, the Italian manufacturer of coffee products, expects its annual turnover to have reached 1bn euros for the first time last year. The company said 2007 had 'surpassed all expectations' with sales growth of 7 per cent, a success that marketing director Giuseppe Lavazza puts down to new products and expansion in foreign markets. Lavazza products are currently sold in 80 countries, and the group has adopted a strategy of striking partnerships with local firms or opening its own associated companies. Looking ahead, there are plans to expand in the US, Russia, Australia and Mexico.

Last year's launch of new domestic coffee machine 'a modo mio' has proved very successful, according to Giuseppe Lavazza, and the product will soon be rolled out across Europe.
