The mainland boutique is a milestone for Nespresso. The brand is to tap the global markets including Asia in 2007 and operation of the business is a key step to fulfill the strategy, says Richard Giradot, CEO of Nespresso.

Nespresso is one of the high-end brands of Nestle Company, and the Switzerland-based food giant insists on the development of boutiques in large cities like Beijing and Shanghai in China.

Nespresso has opened 79 stores globally and the number is predicted to surpass 120 in end-2007. In 2006, Nespresso became the fast-growing business of Nestle, with its sales exceeding USD 1 billion.

Currently, there are many brands from home and abroad in the Chinese coffee market, such as U.B.C. and Starbucks.

The annual growth rate of China's coffee consumption is 15%, making the country the most potential coffee consumer worldwide.
