The market for coffee machines is shifting in Norway, away from traditional brewers to the new pod machines first launched by Nestlé's concept Nespresso. So far Nespresso has been the only available player on this market in Norway, and it has had a 100% rise in machine sales every year since the introduction in 2003. This year it forecasts a 60% growth. Three new players are preparing an entry on the market, OBH Nordica which is launching its Martello concept in several chains including Jernia, Coop and Elkjøp, Gaggia's Caffitaly concept and Severin. OBH Nordica expects a sale of 10,000 machines and Gaggia between 5,000 and 10,000 machines in 2010. Nespresso sold about 15,000 machines in 2008.

Philips also considers a launch of the recently acquired coffee machine company Saeco, which collaborates with coffee producer Lavazza's pod system Amodomio, in Norway.
