US-based companies Starbucks and Kraft Foods have entered into an agreement to sell whole bean coffee at Switzerland's Coop grocery stores.

These companies will commence the sale of coffee by the end of September 2008. Starbucks and Kraft Foods already distribute coffee in the US, Canada and the UK through a similar collaboration.

Reuters cited a Starbucks spokesperson as saying that this is the first time that the coffee retailer has agreed to sell whole bean coffee outside the company's more than 40 coffee shops in Switzerland.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, there is an increasing demand for whole bean coffee in Switzerland.
