Coffee company and coffee store operator Starbucks has just launched the Starbucks Digital Network, in partnership with internet company Yahoo!, in its US company-operated stores.

Coffee company and coffee store operator Starbucks today launched the Starbucks Digital Network, in partnership with internet company Yahoo!, in its US company-operated stores.

The Starbucks Digital Network, which provides a collection of hand-picked premium news, entertainment and lifestyle content along with local insights and events, is powered by free Starbucks Wi-Fi and available to customers only in Starbucks stores.

Now, customers with Wi-Fi enabled laptops, tablets or smartphones can visit the network at Starbuck stores across US.

Designed to deliver a new, enhanced in-store experience for customers, the Starbucks Digital Network is claimed to be the first in-store network of its kind.

The digital network’s premium, hand-picked content spans six channels: News, Entertainment, Wellness, Business & Careers, My Neighborhood and Starbucks. In addition, newly signed content providers include Bookish Reading Club, Foursquare, GOOD, LinkedIn, New Word City and The Weather Channel.

Yahoo! has built, managed and also hosts the Starbucks Digital Network.

The Starbuck’s digital network goes live in nearly 6,800 US company-operated Starbucks today, 20 October 2010.
