U.S. Starbucks interested to expand in Argentina, Colombia, Central America

U.S.-based chain Starbucks Coffee, the world\'s leading roaster and retailer of specialty coffees, is interested in expanding its operations to Argentina, Colombia and some Central American countries, the vice president, responsible for the Latin American operations at the company, Pablo Arizmendi, said on January 23, 2007. The expansion of the operations to those markets is not expected to take place in a short term, Arizmendi added.

U.S.-based chain Starbucks Coffee, the world's leading roaster and retailer of specialty coffees, is interested in expanding its operations to Argentina, Colombia and some Central American countries, the vice president, responsible for the Latin American operations at the company, Pablo Arizmendi, said on January 23, 2007.

The expansion of the operations to those markets is not expected to take place in a short term, Arizmendi added.

Starbucks started operations in Latin America in September 2002. Starbucks has already a total 172 coffee shops in the region, namely in Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Puerto Rico and on the Bahamas.

Starbucks has nearly 12,000 shops all over the world.
