The UK independent café market saw sales grow by 4.1% to reach £4.6 billion in the last year. Total number of independent coffee shops in the UK grew by 2.2% to reach 12,212 shops, despite economic difficulties. Nearly three-quarters of independent operators reported an increase in sales last year, with 30% reporting growth above 5%.
